Women in Sport Week 2026

This week, Tennis Ireland is proud to join organisations across the country in celebrating Women in Sport Week (2nd–8th March 2026), Sport Ireland’s annual initiative timed to coincide with International Women’s Day on 8th March.

This year’s theme is Same Energy — a rallying call to everyone in sport to ask whether they’re bringing the same excitement, commitment and visibility to women’s sport as they do to men’s. Whether you’re a player, coach, administrator, parent or fan, Same Energy is a challenge to get behind women and girls in sport and truly match that energy.

At Tennis Ireland, we’re committed to growing the game for women and girls at every level — and weeks like this are a timely reminder of how far we’ve come, and how much further we can go together.

Here are some events to keep an eye out for over the week:

At the recent Davis Cup tie in UL, Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Aoife O’Sullivan, hosted a Women in Tennis Breakfast. We were joined by outgoing Tennis Ireland President, Letty Lucas, Jennifer-Anne Mullholland of UL Sport Arena Facilities Manager, ITF Umpire Aurélie Vasseneix, Limerick LSP, Badminton Ireland and of course, some wonderful Tennis Ireland staff.
