Week one of the William Fry Junior Lawn Championships of Ireland went by in a blink. Finals day brought some brilliant tennis and plenty of drama, with titles decided across the U14 and U18 age groups in both singles and doubles.
Well done to every player who left it all on the court this week, and congratulations to all our winners and finalists.

U14 Singles
Boys: Sam Irwin [3] claimed the title with a straight sets win over Aidan Garcia Seeber [6], 6-1, 6-2.
Girls: Top seed Aryia Pringle Quinn [1] came through against Jane Doyle [8], 6-3, 6-3.
U18 Singles
Boys: Zac Naughton [1] took the crown with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ronan Doyle [2].
Girls: Scarlett Foley [1] claimed the title against Aahana Attavar [5], winning 6-1, 6-4.
U14 Doubles
Boys: Christopher Delaney [2] and Max Naughton edged out top seeds Aidan Garcia Seeber [1] and Charlie Mcveigh in a tight one, 7-5, 7-5.
Girls: Lily O’Shea [2] and Emily Tennant battled past Joye Chen [3] and Saki Mishima 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 in a match tiebreak decider.
U18 Doubles
Boys: Top seeds Billy Brennan [1] and Zac Naughton won through 6-3, 6-4 against Johnny Fitzgerald [3] and Tommy Fitzgerald.
Girls: Lauren Dunne [4] and Ailbhe Moloney claimed the title 7-6, 6-2 over Sienna Maccarthy and Alicia Sutton.

This championship has been part of the Irish tennis pathway for over a century, giving generations of young players a stage to test themselves. But player development is about more than what happens on court. It’s shaped by the whole ecosystem around a player, from family and coaches to clubs, schools and the wider tennis community. Weeks like this are a good reminder that we’re not just developing tennis players, we’re developing people.
