Eight Irish Players Battle for ATP Challenger 75 Dublin Wildcard
Eight of Ireland’s top men’s tennis players will go head-to-head this Monday and Tuesday in a high-stakes wildcard playoff for a coveted spot at the ATP Challenger 75 Dublin, the biggest professional men’s tennis event in Ireland since 2008.
Cian Maguire, Zac Naughton, Eoghan Jennings, James McGloughlin, Dylan Leeman, Sean O’Nuallain, Cian McDonnell, and Arthur O’Sullivan will compete across two group-stage rounds at Claremont Railway Lawn Tennis Club, with action getting underway at 10:30am on both days.
Split into two groups of four, each player must fight their way to the top of their group to earn a place in the final. The two group winners then meet on Tuesday afternoon, with a qualifying wildcard for the ATP Challenger 75 Dublin at Elm Park Golf & Sports Club (14–20 June) on the line.
Tennis Ireland National Performance Development Director Cian Blake said: “The upcoming wildcard playoff is a fantastic opportunity for some of Ireland’s leading players to compete for a place in the qualifying draw of the Dublin ATP Challenger 75. With eight of our best players battling it out, the standard is going to be incredibly high and every match will carry real significance. Opportunities to earn a place in a professional ATP event on home soil are rare so we expect a fiercely competitive event and wish all players the very best as they compete for this exciting opportunity.”
Derek Collins, President of Claremont Railway LTC, said: “Hosting this playoff at Claremont Railway LTC is a real privilege, and to have eight talented Irish players competing for a place in the ATP Challenger 75 Dublin draw makes it extra special. We look forward to welcoming fans to the club to see it unfold.”
For whichever Irish player comes through, it’s a shot at competing against ranked professionals on the biggest domestic tennis stage in nearly two decades. The stakes don’t get much higher than this.
Spectators are welcome to come and watch the action unfold at Claremont Railway Lawn Tennis Club. Please note that parking is not available on site and viewing space is limited, so arrive early to secure your spot.
