Tennis Ireland Launch TI Junior Kids Programme

Tennis Ireland is excited to launch our new ‘TI Junior Kids’ programme.

The aim of ‘TI Junior Kids’ is to further the development of Under 10s tennis in Ireland, through coach education and support, and by creating a clear competition pathway.

This new programme is supported by the Sport Ireland Resilience fund and has been developed on behalf of Tennis Ireland by Mareze Joubert, one of Tennis Ireland’s Coach Developers.

Tennis clubs across Ireland currently involved in running Tennis 10s events or with coaches who have a keen interest in creating more competition for U10 players, have been designated by Tennis Ireland as Development Clubs.

The TI Junior Kids programme will provide each Development Club with the following:

U10s Competitions framework and plan (appropriate competition for all);

U10s Coach education & development (courses & pathways with practical content);

Exclusive Tennis Ireland U10s tennis equipment pack

The objectives of the programme include:

  • Getting children interested and excited about tennis from the start by creating a fun, player centred and effective learning environment
  • To increase the number of children playing competition by creating more appropriate competition for all
  • Develop good tennis fundamentals through improved coach development supports

Each Development Club will receive an exclusive Tennis Ireland U10s equipment pack. These packs include the necessary equipment to help set-up a fun and effective tennis learning environment for U10s. Tennis Ireland is delighted to be supporting our Development Clubs with equipment necessary to deliver their innovative U10s ‘TI Junior Kids’ programmes.

The programme will be launched by Development Clubs in September for the 2023-2024 season. ‘TI Junior Kids’ informational Workshops will be announced in the near future to assist clubs with the launch of their U10s tennis programmes.

Tennis Ireland would like to thank Sport Ireland for their support in this initiative through the Resilience funding received and to Mareze Joubert, Garrett Barry, Jean Barr, Sinead Dunne, Cian Blake, Carlos Miranda, John McGahon and Christine Treston and for their on-going work in developing and implementing the programme.
