A landmark partnership brings the Irish Open and its host county closer together
Council backing supports world tour tennis on home soil in Carrickmines
Investment in an event that inspires the next generation of Irish players
International tour tennis returns to south Dublin this summer with significant local backing, as Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is announced as title partner of the 2026 Irish Open.
The partnership unites the event with the county that hosts it. The Irish Open returns to Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club for the third year running, and the Council’s support helps deliver a tournament that brings elite professional tennis to local courts and gives Irish players the chance to compete at this level without leaving home.
Kevin Quinn, CEO of Tennis Ireland, said: “Having Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on board as title partner is a significant moment for the Irish Open. Their backing allows us to grow the event and to mark a real milestone this year, with professional women’s tennis returning to Ireland at this level. It is a partnership built on a shared belief in what tennis can offer local communities and aspiring players across the country.”
Cllr Barry Saul, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, said: “Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is proud to be the title partner of the 2026 Irish Open, bringing world-class tennis to our county once again. This landmark partnership strengthens the connection between the event and its home in Carrickmines, while showcasing our area on an international stage. Just as importantly, it provides a unique opportunity for Irish players to compete at the highest level on home soil and inspires young people across our communities to get involved in sport. We look forward to welcoming players and visitors for what promises to be an exciting and memorable tournament.”
Irish players will have the chance to earn their place in the draw through a wild card play-off at Beckett Park in mid-July, offering home talent a route into the tournament and the opportunity that competing at this level brings.
Tickets for the 2026 Irish Open go on sale at 10am Wednesday July 1st through Universe, with main draw prices starting from €10. Entry to the qualifying days is free but ticketed.
The Irish Open takes place at Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club, Dublin, from Sunday 26 July to Sunday 2 August 2026.
