Ireland set to compete in 2024 European Summer Cups

2024 has seen some great success and progress for juniors in Ireland with various international tournaments being hosted since January in clubs and the National Tennis Centre.

Ireland is hosting 12 international tournaments in 2024, with more to be confirmed. These tournaments are providing ample opportunities for young players in Ireland to compete on the Tennis Europe and ITF calendars, gaining international ranking points on home soil. Irish players have made the most of their home advantage with 8 tournament wins so far this year between both singles and doubles.

Well done to:

Under 12 Tennis Europe: Sam Irwin (Singles), James Hatton and John McGarvey (Doubles)

Under 14 Tennis Europe: Patrick Breen (Singles), Patrick Breen and David Somers (Doubles)

ITF: Patrick Marsh (Singles), Rachel Deegan (Singles), James Lammas (Doubles), Rachel Reid (Doubles)

The summer season will continue to provide more opportunities and support for Juniors with a full schedule of international tournaments both home and abroad as Tennis Ireland has entered all age groups in the Tennis Europe Summer Cups.

This year selection will be based on international ranking with the top 3 internationally ranked boys and girls due to be selected (see dates below), aiming to support players keen on competing internationally. This does not apply to U12s where the national ranking will be used.

Ireland will also participate in the Junior Four Nations in September which takes place in Ireland (venue is TBC). More detail will follow in the coming months.
