Title partnership shines a spotlight on Blind/VI Tennis ahead of this year’s Championships at Shankill Tennis Club, 2–3 May
Blind and visually impaired tennis in Ireland has a new champion. BearingPoint has been announced as the title sponsor of the 2026 Irish National Blind/VI Tennis Championships a partnership that brings fresh energy and profile to one of the most compelling events on the Irish tennis calendar. The Championships take place at Shankill Tennis Club, Dublin, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May, bringing together Ireland’s finest blind and visually impaired players alongside international competitors.
Sanctioned by the International Blind Tennis Association (IBTA) as a Tier 4 event carrying 200 world ranking points, the Championships are open to players across all sight categories (B1 through B4) with competition running across both days. For many players, this is their most important competitive outing of the year, and the addition of BearingPoint’s support elevates the event still further.
“BearingPoint are a fantastic partner to Tennis Ireland, and having them step up to support the National Blind/VI Championships is a real statement of intent. This event celebrates some incredibly talented athletes and we want to give them the platform it deserves. BearingPoint’s involvement does exactly that.”
Kevin Quinn, CEO, Tennis Ireland
“We’re proud to put our name to an event that puts inclusion and excellence front and centre. Blind and visually impaired tennis is a remarkable sport, and the standard of competition at these Championships is something that deserves to be celebrated. We look forward to a fantastic two days at Shankill.”
Gillian O’Sullivan, Country Leader, BearingPoint Ireland
Shankill Tennis Club is one of Ireland’s premier indoor tennis venues, with three cushioned acrylic courts and a purpose-built indoor centre that previously hosted the 2017 dlr Takei IBTA World Championships. The club’s experience at the highest level of blind tennis makes it the ideal setting for this year’s event.
Competition is open to all Irish and international players. The B1 category competes on Saturday 2nd May, with B2–B4 categories taking to the courts on Sunday 3rd May. A dedicated novice section ensures players competing in their first Blind/VI tournament are fully supported, and a junior VI tennis event on Saturday afternoon is open to all senior players.
Entries for the Championships close on 24th of April. Full details and registration information are available at tennisireland.ie.
