Irish Tennis Fans Set for Two Days of World-Class Tennis in Dublin
Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin, 22/08/2025 – Tennis Ireland has today announced the team that will represent Ireland in the upcoming Davis Cup World Group II tie against China P.R., to be played on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2025, at the National Indoor Training Centre, on the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin.
The five players selected are:
- Michael Agwi
- Peter Buldorini
- Conor Gannon
- Ammar Elamin
- David O’Hare
Davis Cup Captain, Conor Niland commented:
“As a team we are very excited to get a chance to compete in Dublin for the first time since 2015. We are looking to build on the win over Saudi Arabia in February against a very good China P.R. team. A number of our players are in very good recent form and we can’t wait to showcase our play in front of our passionate Irish fans at the Sport Ireland Campus”
Cian Blake, National Performance Development Director, said:
“Off the back of a successful Irish Open, we are delighted to have Davis Cup tennis back on Irish soil. The Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena is a fitting venue for a tie of this stature and we can’t wait to see it full with Irish supporters. This is an opportunity for the team to inspire the next generation of stars and for the Irish tennis public to see world-class tennis here in Ireland.”
Kevin Quinn, CEO of Tennis Ireland, added:
“Bringing the Davis Cup back to Dublin is hugely significant. With a purpose built tennis court and seated amphitheatre, the National Indoor Training Centre will provide an incredible stage for the Irish team and their fans to showcase Irish tennis at its very best. Tennis Ireland is proud to once again host ‘the world cup of tennis’ and I would like to thank Sport Ireland and all our partners for their support in helping to make this exciting event possible. We look forward to welcoming the China P.R. team to the Sport Ireland Campus in September.”
This exciting event marks the return of Davis Cup tennis to Dublin for the first time in 10 years, when Ireland hosted Belarus at Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club in 2015. This is also the first time that a professional tennis event will be held at the Sport Ireland Campus. Excitement is now building for a return to Dublin, with the National Indoor Training Centre set to welcome two days of world-class tennis and passionate home support.
Ireland’s opponents, China P.R., have the potential to send over a strong team, including Zhang Zhizhen, China P.R.’s highest-ever ranked male tennis player and Sun Fajing, their current No.4.
Tickets for this unique tennis event went on sale last week. Saturday 13th is already sold-out. A limited number of tickets for Sunday 14th remain available via tennisireland.ie.
