How to Register Your Tennis Club on Google Business

Register Your Club on Google Business

Help new players and families find your club. A Google Business Profile puts your club on Google Search and Maps — for free — displaying your contact details, hours, photos, and reviews exactly where people are looking.

12 steps
~15 minutes
Completely free
No technical skills needed
Before you start

You'll need a Google-linked email address to manage your club's listing. If your club doesn't have one, create a free Google account before getting started.

Getting started
1
Open Google Business and click Start now
Go to google.com/business and click Start now to begin setting up your club's free profile.
2
Type in your tennis club name and click Continue
Enter your club's full name as it is commonly known — e.g. Blackrock Tennis Club. Google will search to see if a listing already exists.
3
Select "Local store" as your business type
This tells Google your club operates from a physical location where people visit in person — which is the correct option for tennis clubs. Click Next to continue.
Club details
4
Choose the category that best describes your club
Select the most relevant option — good choices include:
  • Tennis Club
  • Sports Club
Tip: Google uses this category to match your listing to local searches like "tennis near me" — so choose the most specific option available.
5
Enter your club's physical address
Type in the full street address of your club — this is what will appear on Google Maps and in local search results. If Google recognises your address, confirm it is correct. If the location shown doesn't match, click "This doesn't match" and enter the correct details manually.
6
Enter your club's contact details
Add the club's main phone number and website address. This information will be publicly visible, so use a contact that your committee checks regularly. If your club uses a WhatsApp number or text service for enquiries, you can add that here too — otherwise leave it blank.
Verification
7
Complete the verification process
Google needs to confirm your club is a real, active organisation before publishing your listing. Enter your own contact details when prompted — this information is not made public. Verification options may include:
📮 Postcard to club address 📞 Phone call 📧 Email

This can take a few hours to several days. Your listing won't appear publicly until verification is complete — Google will notify you once your profile is live.

Complete your profile
8
Add your club's opening hours
Enter the hours when your club is open and active — for example, Open Nights, court hire availability, or coaching session times. This helps players know when they can visit or get in touch.
9
Write a short club description
Give a brief, welcoming overview of what your club offers. Consider including:
  • Coaching and membership options
  • Social play and Open Days
  • Junior and family programmes
  • Community events and initiatives
Tip: Keep it friendly and inviting — this is often the first impression a potential new member will have of your club.
10
Add a main photo of your club
Upload a clear, high-quality photo that represents your club — courts, clubhouse, or players in action all work well. Listings with photos receive significantly more engagement than those without.
11
Skip the Google Ads section
Google may prompt you to set up advertising. Click Skip — this is entirely optional and you do not need to pay for ads to benefit from your Business Profile.

Once verified — add more photos

After your profile goes live, upload additional images of your courts, clubhouse, signage, and club activities. High-quality photos of real club life significantly increase how often your listing is clicked and visited.

Managing your profile
12
Click "Manage now" to access your dashboard
Once verified, click Manage now to open your Google Business dashboard. From here you can:
  • Edit any profile information at any time
  • Read and respond to member and visitor reviews
  • Add more photos and post club updates
  • View insights on how people are finding your club (keywords, map views, calls)
  • Add your club's social media links and website
Keep it updated: Accurate opening hours, contact details, and regular updates all improve your visibility on Google. Visit google.com/business and click Manage now any time to make changes.
