DLR Irish
Open
2026
A landmark year
for Irish tennis
The 2026 DLR Irish Open marks a genuine milestone for Irish tennis, as the women's event is upgraded to World Tennis Tour W50 status, the first time in over 40 years that Ireland has hosted women's professional tennis at this level. The upgrade brings stronger international fields and higher ranking points to Carrickmines.
The men's World Tennis Tour M15 event runs concurrently, with both competitions returning to Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club for a third consecutive year, and Tennis Ireland is delighted to welcome Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as tournament title partner for 2026.
Tennis Ireland has secured wild cards into both draws, giving Irish players a route into the tournament through a dedicated play-off event at DLR's Beckett Park in mid-July.
"Having Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on board as title partner is a significant moment for the Irish Open. Their backing allows us to grow the event and to mark a real milestone this year, with the upgrade of our women's tournament to an World Tennis W50 level event. We're also very excited to hold our first wildcard play-off event at DLR's Beckett Park in the run-in to the DLR Irish Open."
Kevin Quinn, CEO, Tennis Ireland
Two draws, one club
The women's and men's events are contested concurrently at Carrickmines.
World Tennis Tour W50
The tournament's headline milestone for 2026: an upgrade to W50 status that draws stronger international fields and higher ranking points, and puts elite women's tennis on Irish soil for the first time in over four decades.
World Tennis Tour M15
Run concurrently with the women's draw, the M15 event continues a tournament tradition at Carrickmines that gives emerging men's players a platform against international opposition on home ground.
Wild card play-off at Beckett Park
Tennis Ireland has secured wild cards into both draws. Irish players can earn their place through a dedicated play-off tournament at DLR's Beckett Park in mid-July, ahead of the main event at Carrickmines.

"We look forward to a week of great tennis and to welcoming both Irish and international players and their supporters to our club." — Helen Pilkington, President, Carrickmines CLTC
Founded in 1903, Carrickmines is one of Ireland's oldest tennis clubs, originally set up to host the County Dublin Championships. Its lawns have drawn touring greats over the decades, from John McEnroe and Mats Wilander to Yannick Noah and Pat Cash, and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova played there as a junior. Former pro Owen Casey called it "my little bit of Wimbledon."
