Cardio Tennis in Baldoyle

Cardio Tennis Programme at St Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle

Two classes of first and second year girls, students at St Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle, recently completed an exciting programme of Cardio Tennis on the school tennis courts. The programme, sponsored by the Irish Sports Council and Fingal County Council, provides a work- out combined with a tennis skills session and beats an hour on the treadmill any day.

The girls worked at a pace suited to their level of fitness and tennis skill, under the guidance of coaches Fiona Jones and Luke Janiak. It is hoped that this introductory programme will encourage the girls to participate in regular tennis activity, available to them right on their doorstep.

Fiona coaches at the local tennis club, Trackside LTC, which provides many tennis activities suited to girls and boys between the ages of five and seventeen. Among these are regular Parks Tennis programmes on Wednesday afternoons and a club junior coaching programme on Saturday afternoons implemented by Fiona.

Indeed, there is also an opportunity to take up club membership and avail of the new club facilities which include three newly-laid synthetic grass courts.

All of these programmes and facilities are available at an extremely low cost and will provide many hours of healthy, enjoyable activity for boys and girls. Of course, the club is also open to new adult members, also at an unbelievably competitive rate.
