Fed Cup 2010

BNP Paribas Irish Fed Cup Team 2010

The remaining members of the BNP Paribas Irish Fed Cup team has finally made it to Cairo and are ready to compete.

Tennis Ireland sponsor BNP Paribas Dublin is the biggest sponsor of Tennis in the world and locally in Ireland they are sponsors of the BNP Paribas National Tennis Academy and this year are also sponsors of the Irish Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams. BNP Paribas was behind the Irish men’s victory in the first tie of the Davis Cup in March and will be supporting the men again in July as they take on Lithuania in Dublin.
Amy Bowtell has been in Cairo since last week, accompanied only by fellow teammate Julia Moriarty, as the remainder of squad and their captain, Garry Cahill, was stranded in Ireland due to flight disruptions. Bowtell travelled from France, while Moriarty had already been in Cairo for a tournament. In their first tie, the two person BNP Paribas Irish Fed Cup team was victorious over Malta 3-0, with Bowtell and Moriarty each winning their singles matches and teaming up for a doubles victory.
Captain Garry Cahill and player Niamh Coveney were finally able to make it out of Dublin yesterday, arriving in Cairo today in time for Ireland’s second tie against Morocco. The final member of the team, Lynsey McCullough, is travelling from Belfast today and will arrive early Friday morning.
Once fully reunited, the BNP Paribas Irish Fed Cup team will hope for success in Cairo with the support of Tennis Ireland and their team sponsors.
