2020 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals and Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals to be postponed until 2021

Today it was announced that the 2020 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas regional group events and Davis Cup by Rakuten regional Group events will be rescheduled for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The events rescheduled include the Fed Cup Finals, Play-Offs and four outstanding 2020 regional events that were due to be played in 2020 (two events in Americas Group II, one event in Asia/Oceania Group II, and the Europe/Africa Group III event which includes Ireland). All events will be rescheduled for 2021 with dates to be announced in due course.

Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals are also rescheduled and will take place in November 2021.

The home-and-away World Group I and World Group II ties that were scheduled for September of this year have been rescheduled for 2021. The 2020 regional Group III (which includes Ireland who were promoted to Group III in 2019) and IV events are also postponed until 2021.

Tennis Ireland CEO Richard Fahey said “We understand the difficulties playing the ties posed for the ITF during the current COVID-19 pandemic and look forward to the rescheduling of the events in 2021.”
