15 Nov Tennis Ireland welcomes Sports Capital Grant Allocations
Tennis Ireland today welcomed the announcement of over €1.8m in direct funding for 42 Irish Tennis Clubs under the 2018 Sports Capital Programme by Shane Ross T.D, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, and Brendan Griffin T.D. Minister of State for Tourism and Sport.
In total €37 million was awarded to 994 sports related projects at local level.
Welcoming the announcement of the funding, Tennis Ireland CEO, Richard Fahey said: “Once again, I would like to thank Minister Ross and Minister Griffin and their Department for their latest allocation of sports capital grants. This brings the total investment by the Department of Sport in Irish Tennis to over €5.5m over the last 2 years which is a fantastic result for our sport and recognition of the role our sport plays in getting Irish communities active.
Tennis Ireland has again worked closely with clubs this year assisting them with their applications and advocating on their behalf and it is great that this work has paid dividends”.
“Our focus will now move to working with the clubs that received allocations and we will run a workshop in the coming weeks for them to ensure that they understand the process for drawing down their funding and making sure that they develop facilities that are fit for purpose and provide the best value for money possible.”
Today’s allocations were for local projects and it is expected that additional Regional allocations will be announced shortly.
The Tennis clubs that were successful in their application to the programme include;
