18 Apr Tennis Ireland Senior (Open) Ranking
Tennis Ireland are delighted to announce that the National Senior Rankings are now live online and available HERE.
The new National Senior Rankings, which will be updated weekly, have been developed as part of the Tennis Ireland Strategic Plan under the “Transforming our Competitions” pillar and came about after consultation with clubs and players across the country. The ranking system will help create consistency in seeding, allow players to measure their success and increase level-based play in the many quality senior open tournaments that are held throughout Ireland.
Speaking about the launch of the rankings, Richard Fahey, CEO, said
“Providing a National Senior Ranking was one of the key goals of the Tennis Ireland Strategic Plan. Combined with the ongoing development of the Tennis Ireland Tour Structure and our engagement with the ITF’s soon to be completed Ratings System this will help us build upon, and improve the already hugely popular senior open calendar of tournaments throughout the country”.
Nickie Coffey, National Competitions Committee Chair and TI Board member added,
“Following on from a very successful Tennis Ireland Junior Tour Weekend, the new National Senior Rankings have gone live. This will be of huge benefit for both players and tournament directors alike. Well done to the Tennis Ireland team”.
While James Cooney, Tennis Ireland Competitions Manager, said
“As a player and tournament director it has been very exciting to work on the development of the new National Senior Rankings with TI Rankings Administrator, Cathie Hannin. It is going to provide a great service to players and tournaments of all levels”.
