Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club celebrates Gold Status following completion of newly refurbished Club House

Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club, established since 1927 has been officially recognised as one of the leading sports clubs in the country having been awarded the prestigious Gold Clubmark honour by Tennis Ireland, the sport’s National Governing Body. 

 This award, which is part of Tennis Ireland’s accreditation programme, confirms Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club status as one of the best-run clubs in the country, with marks awarded for effective organisation, management, safety, child welfare, risk management, equality and inclusion, organised play and scoring, competition, coaching, player development, outreach programmes, communication and public relations.

On hand to present the award to Castleknock LTC President Geoff Ross on Saturday night were staff club members and the local community along with Chief Executive of Tennis Ireland, Richard Fahey.

An Taoiseach , Leo Varadkar  who was unable to attend personally commented  “I’m delighted to see phase 1 of Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club’s development completed and the attainment of this important quality mark recognising high operating standards of the club. Community members have a great facility on their doorstep to come together to play tennis, get involved in fitness and social  activities and I wish the club every success in the future.

Geoff Ross spoke of the collective pride of the Castleknock LTC members. “We are delighted to be recipient of the Tennis Ireland Gold accreditation service at this important juncture of the club’s development, following the refurbishment of the club house.

Richard Fahey commended Castleknock on their achievement. “This award is due recognition for the high standards that Castleknock LTC maintains across all levels of the club’s activities. The Clubmark Programme is an integral component of the new strategy that Tennis Ireland and I’m delighted to see a club of Castleknock’s stature investing time and energy in the programme and in doing so, becoming the seventh club in Ireland to achieve the programme’s Gold status.  I’m delighted to see the active junior programme underway and also the strong focus on inclusion which CLTC has demonstrated.  

Head Coach Daniele Mancia paid tribute to the positive environment that is helping to foster the development of young players at the club as well as the strong program on inclusion. “We are fortunate to have committed and motivated parents whose support enables the coaching team to implement a coaching programme that caters for young players of all standards and also reaches out to people with disabilities. Our senior coaching programme is also thriving with more of our members playing regular tennis than ever before”.
