31 Aug €40m in funding available through Sports Capital Programme
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D. and the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin T.D, yesterday announced that €40 million is being made available under a new round of the Sports Capital Programme (SCP). The SCP is the Government’s primary vehicle for providing support to sports clubs and communities to develop sports infrastructure around the country and Tennis Ireland encourages all tennis clubs to apply.
In the last round of the programme, 61 Tennis Projects secured an allocation of €3.2m in funding via the scheme.
Applications
Any organisation that wishes to make an application must first be registered via the Department’s online system at www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie . Clubs can register on the portal at any time and are advised to do so as soon as possible.
A guide to registering on the Portal can be accessed by clicking here . If a club has previously registered on the portal it is not necessary to do so again.
Once a club has registered, all applications must be made via the online application portal. The system will be open for applications from 9am on Friday 7th September to 5pm on Friday 19th October, 2018.
There are a number of changes to the programme this year, the main one’s being that SCP funding is only available to organisations that are run on a not-for-profit basis and that are owned and run on behalf of the members.
In making allocations, priority will be given to organisations that;
- charge modest annual membership fees
- do not charge once-off entrance fees
- are affiliated to the relevant National Governing Body of Sport i.e. Tennis Ireland.
A guide to making an application is also available and can be accessed by clicking here
Tennis Ireland will running a series of workshops which will provide information to clubs on the programme and how to successfully complete the application process thus maximising the chances of a successful allocation. Details of the workshops can be seen below and you can register for your preferred workshop here
