04 Jul ITF Professional Tennis Tour comes to Dublin
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and AIG bring two weeks of ITF Futures to Ireland
Tennis Ireland is delighted to report the ITF Professional Tennis Tour is coming to Dublin for two weeks this July.
The first of these two weeks takes place in Carrickmines Tennis club from Sunday 16th – Saturday 22nd July when Dun Laoghaire Rathdown will sponsor the ITF $25,000 Futures tournament. The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown International Men’s Tennis Championships will provide an opportunity for the local tennis community to experience top level tennis on their very own doorstep. Irish Davis Cup team player Sam Barry will be in the draw and his teammate Peter Bothwell is also amongst the entries along with a number of Irish Wild Card Entries allowing for the next generation of Irish Players such as Simon Carr who competes in the junior qualifying event in Wimbledon next week. Additionally, there will be a number of players from overseas who will travel to Dublin to compete for the title with players expected to be ranked from 200 -350 in the ATP World Rankings.
The second week’s event will take place in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club from July 22nd – 29th. The AIG Irish Open Tennis Championships will be a combined event this year and will include both men’s and women’s singles and doubles events.We expect to see amongst the entries members of the Irish Fed Cup team as we celebrate the return of the AIG Ladies Irish Open title.
The finals of both the men’s and women’s singles tournaments will be broadcast live on TG4 on Saturday, July 29th.
