24 Jun Lohan and Timotin set to meet in SF of 10k in Portugal
Top Irish players, Jennifer Timotin and Sinead Lohan are set to play each other in the semi-final of the ITF event in Cantanhede, Portugal. Before reaching the main draw both players had to come through difficult matches in qualifying.
At sixteen years old this is Jennifer’s first professional IFT tournament and she has shown her talent by beating the number two seed, Angelica Moratelli from Italy in the second round and displayed great determination to defeat the sixth seed, Ines Murta, Portugal in three sets 4-6 7-5 7-6 in the quarter final.
Sinead has had a spectacular season while away in America at the University of Miami and she been able to carry her great form into Portugal. En route to the Semi Final she defeated the number four seed, Jessika Ponchet of France, 6-3 6-3. Following this victory Sinead overcame the seventh seed, Ainhoa Atucha Gomez from Spain setting up an exciting semi-final clash with Jennifer.
