16 Feb Ireland v Belarus in Davis Cup by BNP Paribas
Conor Niland, Captain of the AIG Irish Davis Cup team, has this morning announced his team to face Belarus in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Euro/Africa Zone Group II first round tie.
23 year old Sam Barry will lead the Irish team with Daniel Glancy as number two and they will be joined by doubles specialists James Cluskey & David O’Hare for the tie which takes place at Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club from the 6th – 8th March 2015.
James McGee declared himself unavailable for the tie as he intends to travel to Indian Wells to participate in the qualifying draw which commences on the Monday after the tie.
New Irish Davis Cup Captain Conor Niland said “We have a good side with plenty of experience and a team that is really looking forward to this home tie.
We are hoping to see the Irish tennis fans getting behind the players in what promises to be an exciting weekend in Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club.”
The two nations met in February last year, also at this stage of the competition where Belarus emerged victorious in Minsk, recording a 4-1 victory.
The winners of the tie will face a second round match against either South Africa or Turkey from the 17th – 19th July 2015.
