SINGLES QUALIFYING FINALS AT FBD MENS IRISH OPEN

The final day of qualifying singles of the FBD Mens Irish Open took place this morning at Fitzwilliam LTC, Dublin. Of the Irish players competing today, Stephen Martin (IRL) defeated Paul Keoghan (also from Ireland) on a scoreline 7-5 6-2 to earn a place in the main draw. David O’Hare (IRL) had a tough challenge facing no.1 seed Nicholas John Andrews (GBR) and was overcome 2-6 6-3 6-4. Julian Bradley (IRL) suffered a 6-4 6-4 defeat to Adam Thornton-Browne while Shane La Porte of the USA (a tennis coach in Dublin) had a 6-3 6-4 win over David Hodgetts (GBR) to advance to the main draw.

Singles main draw and doubles will commence tomorrow, Monday 23rd July at 11am. Spectators are welcome and entry is free of charge daily.

Irish players competing in the singles main draw are James McGee (2011 winner), Sam Barry, Tristan Farron-Mahon, Barry King, Stephen Martin, John Morrissey, Ciaran Fitzgerald and Daniel Glancy.
