Jimmy Wilson and Noel Sheridan advance to second round in San Diego

Jimmy Wilson defeated Chris Sullivan (USA) 6-0 6-1 to advance to the second round of the mens singles at the ITF Seniors World Team Championships with fellow Irish player Noel Sheridan joining him in the second round after a 6-4 6-2 win over Tom Monahan (USA) in the first round.

Deirdre Collins faced Jenny Merrill (USA) in the womens singles 40s first round but was unfortunate to suffer a 6-3 6-1 defeat. Maite Cosman was also overcome in the first round of the womens singles 40s retiring in the second set vs. Deborah Y Higa (USA). Maite has partnerer Caroline Bodart (BEL) for the doubles and they will face Graciela Maria Donoso Aguilar (ARG) / Ivett Donosso (ECU)
     
Liam Cassidy partners Bart Theelen (NED) in the mens 45s doubles and they will face American duo Brian Cory / Arthur Hernandez in the first round. Liam was unfortunate to suffer a 6-2 6-0 defeat to Robert Sjoholm (USA) in the mens singles 45s first round.
