Conor Niland advances to second round of US Open qualifiers
Conor Niland has got off to a great start at the US Open with a first round win in the mens singles qualifiers at Flushing Meadows.
Conor defeated Pavol Cervenak (SVK) in the first round yesterday on a scoreline 6-1 6-4. His second round challenge is Tsung-Hua Yang (TPE) who has a ranking of 223. A win in the second round would see Niland one step away from a place in the mens singles main draw.
Also in action at the US Open is Ireland’s Louk Sorensen who is playing his first US Open. He will face Arnau Brugues-Davi (ESP) in the mens singles qualifiers first round today (fourth match after an 11am start). Sorensen reached the second round of the mens singles at the San Sebastian Challenger last week in Spain.
