Fed Cup Captain Vacancy
Tennis Ireland is the National Governing Body for the sport in Ireland and is affiliated to the International Tennis Federation and Tennis Europe. Tennis Ireland promotes, develops, regulates and administers the sport on an all-island basis.
Tennis Ireland also selects and manages the Irish Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams. Ireland will compete in the scheduled Fed Cup event in Cairo in early May 2011.
Garry Cahill stepped down as Fed Cup Captain in December 2010 (following his appointment as Davis Cup Captain) and the Association intends to appoint a successor within the next six weeks so as to ensure an adequate period of preparation for the May 2011 tie.
Tennis Ireland wishes to invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for this position.
The ideal candidate will have;-
· A recognised coaching qualification.
· A track record of significant achievement in working with elite junior and professional players.
· A good knowledge and understanding of the structure of the sport of tennis in Ireland.
· Relevant experience in managing individual players or tennis teams, ideally in an international context.
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive of Tennis Ireland and will be required to liaise at a high level with the Performance Tennis Director of Tennis Ireland. The initial term for this appointment is two years and contract terms and conditions will be discussed at interview.
