Barry off to a flying start in Pro Career

 

Sam Barry has got off to a flying start in his pro career qualifying and reaching the quarterfinals of the mens singles at the Italy F29 Futures earlier this month and qualifying for the main draw of the Greece F1 Futures last week and Turkey F12 Futures this week. This has resulted in a current ranking of 1264 for the Limerick player who is a member of the BNP Paribas National Tennis Academy.
 
Eighteen-year-old Barry started out the year qualifying for the second round of the Australian Open Juniors, reaching the semi finals of the grade one 46th Astrid Bowl Charleroi, Belgian International Junior Championships in March, the first round of Roland Garros Juniors and first round of qualifying at Wimbledon Juniors all while studying for his leaving certificate. During the summer, Sam earned a place in the quarterfinals of the European Junior Championships in Switzerland. His last junior event of the year was the US Open Juniors in September where Sam reached the second round.
 

Since then, Sam has been competing in the Senior Futures Circuit earning two ATP points and a ranking of 1264.
