Bowtell makes the breakthrough

AEGON GB Pro-Series, Chiswick,  Esporta Chiswick Riverside Club

16 year old Amy Bowtell, a member of the BNP Paribas National Tennis Academy reached her first ever final of an ITF Women’s Pro Circuit final in Chiswick over the weekend.

Unranked 16-year old Bowtell, a regular in the BNP Paribas Irish Fed Cup team, had already defeated two seeded players in the No. 2 seed in round two and the No. 3 seed in the semi finals en route to the final but those two victories over seeded opposition did little however to unsettle her opponent Tara Moore and despite the final being briefly interrupted by a rain delay, Moore won the final 63 64.

Bowtell though can look back on her performances over the course of the week with great pride, especially given that she had reached the final despite this being her first ever appearance in the main draw of an ITF Pro Circuit Women’s tournament. Her only previous experiences of life on the circuit had been in qualifying events.
