Rushbrooke ITF: Irish Players advance to second round

Rusbrooke LTC is the host of this weeks Rusbrooke ITF event taking place in Cobh, Co. Cork

In the boys singles main draw, no. 1 seeded Ciaran Fitzgerald, Brendan Dempsey, Stephen Martin and Darragh Glavin have all advanced to the second round. Ciaran Fitzgerald defeated Jathan Malik (GBR) on a scoreline 6-4 7-6(5), Brendan Dempsey had a 6-2 7-5 win over Ante Borovina (CRO), Stephen Martin defeated no. 3 seeded Sander Brendmoe (NOR) on a scoreline 6-0 6-1 while Darragh Glavin had a 6-4 6-0 win over Jose Carvalho (POR).

In the girls singles main draw, there were three Irish players who advanced to the second round. Caroline Lynch defeated Ilga Racika-Racko (LAT) on a scoreline 6-1 6-0, Sinead Lohan had a 6-2 6-0 win over no. 7 seeded Emily Madill and Grainne O’Neill defeated Macarena Sedano Acosta (ITA) on a scoreline 6-2 6-2
