McGee and O’Brien in quarterfinals of Green Property Mens Irish Open
James McGee and Colin O’Brien have advanced to the quarterfinals of the mens singles at the Green Property Mens Irish Open taking place at Fitzwilliam LTC.
No. 5 seeded James McGee faced James Ludlow of USA in the second round and had a 6-3 6-2 win over the American and no. 8 seeded Colin O’Brien defeated Matthew Asciak (MLT) on a scoreline 7-6(4) 6-2 for a place in the quarterfinals.
Barry King was unfortunate to suffer a 7-5 1-6 7-6(0) defeat to Andrea Falgheri (ITA) while 17 year old John Morrissey suffered a similar fate to Simon Cauvard (FRA) with a defeat on a scoreline 4-6 6-3 6-4.
Colin O’Brien will face no. 2 seeded Miloslav Mecir (SVK) at twelve noon today on centre court and following this, James McGee will play Simon Cauvard (FRA).
In the doubles event, no. 1 seeded McGee / Mecir (SVK) will play Ebelthite (AUS) / King in the semi finals this afternoon and Cluskey /O’Brien will face Italians Crepaldi / Grassi.
