O’Brien, Glancy and King advance to second round at Green Property Mens Irish Open
There were first round victories for Colin O’Brien, Daniel Glancy and Barry King yesterday at the Green Property Mens Irish Open taking place at Fitzwilliam LTC.
Daniel Glancy advanced to the second round after a 6-4 5-1 rtd. win over no. 1 seeded Josh Goddall (GBR), while Barry King had a 5-7 7-5 7-5 win over Burnham Arlidge (GBR) and Colin O’Brien defeated Albano Olivetti (FRA) on a scoreline 7-5 7-6(4). Tommie Murphy faced Matthew Asciak (MLT) but failed to advance to the second round suffering a 6-4 6-0 defeat.
In the doubles event, no. 2 seeded James Cluskey / Colin O’Brien defeated John Morrissey / Patrik Brydolf (SWE) on a scoreline 6-4 6-1 and Italians Crepaldi / Grassi defeated Daniel Glancy /Tommi Murphy on a scoreline 4-6 6-3 [10-5].
