European Junior Championships 2010 Results Update

Sam Barry, Ciaran Fitzgerald, Amy Bowtell and Grainne O’Neill have travelled to Switzerland this week for the European Junior Championships 2010.

In the singles event, Amy Bowtell faced no. 7 seed Denisa Allertova (CZE) but was unfortunate to suffer a 6-3 7-5 defeat while Grainne O’Neill will face Nikol Hristova (BUL) in the second round. Ciaran Fitzgerald will play Igor Turcan (MDA) and Sam Barry will play Vasile-Alexandru Ghilea (ROU) in the second round.

Sam Barry and Ciaran Fitzgerald have teamed up for the doubles event but were unfortunate to suffer a 6-2 6-1 defeat to Portuguese duo Dias / Ramos in the first round. Amy Bowtell and Grainne O’Neill have received a bye in the first round and will face Israelis Lavian / Zimmermann in the second round.
