TE Birkerod 2010: Megan McGreevy advances to quarterfinals
A number of Irish players have travelled to Denmark this week for the TE Birkerod 2010.
In the girls u16 singles event, Megan McGreevy has succeeded in advancing to the quarterfinals after a 6-0 2-6 7-5 win over Sofie Skovbo Jensen (DEN). McGreevy and partner Amber Teekens (NED) will compete in the doubles event later on today facing [DEN] Anna S. Christensen (DEN) / Malene Stripp (DEN).
In the boys u14 main draw Fraser McFall faced no. 11 seed Ross-Tiree Wilson (GBR) but was defeated on a scoreline 6-0 6-2. In the doubles, McFall has teamed up with Oliver Michelsen of Denmark but they suffered a 6-3 6-3 defeat in the first round.
In the u14 girls singles second round, Karola Patricia Bejenaru suffered a 6-2 6-4 defeat to no. 4 seeded Kasandra Kozub (POL), Laura Reid was defeated by Isabelle Entenza of Sweden on a scoreline 6-1 6-2 and Pamela Boyanov (AUS) defeated Emily Beatty 6-2 6-0. Other Irish players competing in this event are Lucy Octave, Nicola Drummy, Julie Byrne and Aisling O’Riordan in the main draw and Rachel Doyle in the qualifiers.
All Irish girls have teamed up for the doubles event and received byes in the first round. They will play their first round matches today.
