AEGON Junior International-Roehampton 2010: Barry in doubles quarter finals
Sam Barry, John Morrissey and Amy Bowtell have competed in the AEGON Junior International-Roehampton 2010 this week.
Sam Barry defeated Lewis Burton (GBR) in the first round of the boys singles on a scoreline 6-4 6-2. In the second round, Barry faced Raymond Sarmiento (USA) but failed to advance to the next round suffering a 1-6 6-1 6-2 defeat to the American.
John Morrissey was unfortunate to suffer a 7-5 6-3 defeat to no. 15 seeded Alessandro Colella (ITA) in the first round of the boys singles.
Both Sam and John are also competing in the doubles event. Morrissey teamed up with Tobias Blomgren (SWE) but they were unfortunate to suffer a 7-6(5) 6-7(5) [10-4] defeat to no. 4 seeded duo Kudla (USA) / Sarmiento (USA).
Sam Barry and Ben McLachlan (NZL) have advanced to the quarterfinals of the boys doubles after a 6-4 6-4 win over Dellien (BOL) / Thiem (AUT) in the first round and a 6-2 6-3 win over Australian pair Mitchell / Whittington in the second round. They will now face Broady / Farquharson of Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
Amy Bowtell achieved a place in main draw of the girls singles after defeating Taro Keens (GBR) on a scoreline 7-5 6-0 in the final round of the girls singles qualifiers. She faced no. 9 seeded Ons Jabeur(TUN) in the first round of the girls singles main draw but was unfortunate to suffer a 6-2 7-6(4) defeat.
