Great Britain F7 Futures: O’Brien/Cluskey fail to advance in Newcastle
James Cluskey and Colin O’Brien faced Spanish no. 1 seeds Ignacio Coll-Riudavets / Gerard Granollers-Pujol yesterday afternoon in the semi finals of the mens doubles at the Great Britain F7 Futures in Newcastle. They were unfortunate to suffer a 6-2 7-5 defeat to the Spaniards.
The Irish duo defeated no. 3 seeds Barry King/James Feaver (GBR on a scoreline 6-2 6-7(4) [11-9] to achieve a place in the semi finals.
Colin O’Brien suffered a 7-5 5-7 6-3 defeat to no. 1 seed Josh Goodall (GBR) in the second round of the mens singles after a 4-6 6-0 6-4 win over Richard Gabb (GBR) in the first round. Barry King was unfortunate to suffer a 6-1 6-2 defeat to no. 2 seed Eric Prodon (FRA) in the first round.
Mens Singles Qualifiers
After advancing to the finals of the mens singles qualifiers, Sam Barry has suffered a 6-4 6-2 defeat to Roberto Ortega-Olmedo (ESP). He had a 7-5 6-4 win over Stefan Sterland-Markovic (GBR) in the second round.
Earlier in the week, James Cluskey had a bye in the first round but suffered a 4-6 6-1 7-6(4) defeat to Ahmed El Menshawy (GBR) in the second round.
