Conor Niland qualifies for semi finals at Israel Open 2010
Conor Niland faced the Israeli no. 2 Harel Levy (ISR) yesterday in the quarterfinals of the mens singles in Ramat Hasharon at the Israel Open 2010. After losing the first set, Niland came back to win the next two sets with a final scoreline 2-6 6-4 6-2.
Niland will now play German, Denis Gremelmayr this afternoon in the semi finals. Gremelmayr is currently ranked 324 but has a career high ranking of 59. Earlier this year he qualified for the semi finals of the mens singles and won the doubles at the Egypt F1 Futures in Giza.
Conor Niland currently has a ranking of 222. He defeated Marcel Ilhan 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 at the Davis Cup tie against Turkey in March and achieved a place in the third round of the Australian Open earlier this year. More recently he achieved a place in the quarter final of the mens singles at the Jersey Challenger 2010
