Daniel Glancy has advanced to the main draw of the Great Britain F6 Futures event, joining countrymen Colin O’Brien and Barry King in the men’s singles and doubles. Sixth-seeded Glancy defeated his ninth-seeded opponent, Chris Priddle, 6-2 6-2 in the final round of the qualifiers to advance.
John Morrissey and James Cluskey also played in the qualifying round. Both men made it to the final round, but were defeated before advancing to the main draw. Morrissey came up short against Frederik Ask of Norway. The thirteenth-seeded Norwegian defeated Morrissey on a scoreline of 7-5 6-2. Cluskey, the tenth seed, put up a fight against forth-seeded Jarryd Maher of Australia, but Maher was victorious in three sets, 6-4 3-6 6-3.
In the main draw, Glancy will face off against sixth-seeded Claudio Grassi of Italy. Barry King is set to play Daniel Cox of Great Britain in his first match today, while Colin O’Brien faces the top seed, Eric Prodon of France.
In the doubles, Cluskey and O’Brien pair up for an all-Ireland team. The duo will face the British pair Neil Pauffley and Ben Pritchard in their first match. King is also playing in the doubles, teamed up with Lazare Kukhalashvil of Georgia, who trains with the Irish as part of the BNP Paribas National Tennis Academy. King/Kukhalashvil will play the third-seeded Australian pair of Colin Ebelthite and Jarryd Maher.
