Conor Niland in Mexico
Conor Niland was victorious in the first round of the Abierto Internacional del Bicentenario in Leon, Mexico. Niland, ranked 228, entered the singles draw as the seventh seed and faced Jean-Noel Insausti of France in the opening round. Niland defeated the Frenchman 6-3 6-4 to advance. His next match will be against Roman Valent of Switzerland today.
Niland also saw victory on the doubles side. Paired with Nima Roshan of Australia, he defeated Javier Herrera-Eguiluz and Marco-Aurelio Sanchez, both of Mexico, 6-2 4-6 10-5.
