Juniors in Bresseuire
Several junior players are in France this week competing in the Bresseuire tournament. In the boys’ 12 singles, Morgan Lohan will be playing against Jeremy Durel of France today in the first round. Lohan also teams up with fellow Irishman Sean Collins today to compete in the boys’ 12 doubles. The pair is set to play the French team of Pablo Espinos and Hugo Stroppiana in their first match. The winner will face Liock Brunadet and Bastien Huon of France.
For the boys’ 11 singles, Cian Maguire and Sean Collins both received byes in the first round and will play their first matches today. Maguire is going up against Fabian Salle of France, while Collins will face Alexander Quagliozzi, also of France. The Irish boys are also teamed up for the boys’ 11 doubles draw. The pair will face off against the French duo of Robin Angles and Marceau Bataille in the first round.
On the girls’ side, Georgia Drummy, Jennifer Timoten and Shauna Casey all competed in the first round of the girls’ 11 singles. Drummy was unfortunate to suffer a 1-6 6-0 6-2 loss to Pauline Bourigault of France. Casey was also defeated, losing 6-2 6-1 to Manon Echenard of France. Timoten was victorious, however, earning a 1-6 6-4 6-0 victory over Ines Yviquel of France to advance to the second round. She will play Marie Duvigneau of France in her next match.
In the girls’ 11 doubles, Georgia Drummy and Jennifer Timoten are teamed up, while Shauna Casey is paired with Laura Apostolove of Bulgaria. Drummy/Timoten will play Manon Echenard of France and Helena Jansen Figueras of Spain in the quarterfinals after a first round bye. Casey/Apostolove are set against Aurore Orlow-Andersen of Belgium and Charlotte Robillard-Millitte of Canada in the first round.
Laura Reid and Katie Kirby are also in France, competing in the girls’ 12 singles. Reid was defeated by Aloise Dorey of France, 6-2 6-3, in the first round. Kirby has yet to play, but will face off against Kimberley Gintrand of France in her first match
In the girls’ 12 doubles, Kirby and Reid pair up to face Pauline Maklenkov of France and Parli Parn of Estonia in their first match today.
