Samuel Bothwell and Isabelle O’Reilly in Portugal
Samuel Bothwell competed last week in the 17th Taca Internacional Maia Jovem in Maia, Portugal. Bothwell competed in both the singles and doubles of the boys’ 14 category. He was defeated 3-6 2-6 by second seeded Arkadijs Slobodkins of Lativa in the main draw and 2-4 1-4 by Sean Hadden of Portugal in the consolation round. In the doubles, Samuel was partnered with Miguel Semedo of Portugal against the Portuguese duo of Francisco Caldas and Alfonso Faria. The pair was defeated 3-6 1-6.
Isabelle O’Reilly was also in Portugal last week. She competed in the main draws of both the girls’ 14 singles and doubles. In the singles, O’Reilly was defeated by the 15th seed, Sara Ottomano of Switzerland, 0-6 0-6, before a walkover in her consolation match against Lara Kralj of Slovenia. In the doubles, O’Reilly and partner Mariana Carreira of Portugal were defeated by Matilde Fernandez and Daniella Silva, both of Portugal, 2-6 0-6.
