Lesley O’Halloran is continuing to succeed in both singles and doubles play in Mexico City. Ranked 121 of women over 35, O’Halloran is seeded seventh in the singles’ draw and is the top seed in the doubles with Olga Shaposhnikova of Russia. O’Halloran has advanced to the semifinals in the singles after a 5-7 6-3 6-2 upset over third seeded American Mariana Hollman. Her next match will be today against sixth seeded Fran Chandler of the United States to determine who will reach the finals.
 
In the women’s 45 doubles, O’Halloran and Shaposhnikova have reached the finals with two solid victories. Yesterday the duo teamed up to defeat the Finnish pair of Jaana Ahlamaa-Tuompo and Silja Johansson on a scoreline of 6-3 6-2. The top seeded pair of O’Halloran and Shaposhnikova will face the second seeded Americans Fran Chandler and Mary Dailey in the finals.
 
Liam Cassidy was also competing in Mexico City in the men’s 40 doubles yesterday. Cassidy teamed up with Bart Theelan of the Netherlands as the top seed in the draw, earning them a first round bye. In the quarterfinals the duo faced off against Paul Kleverlann and Chris O’Mara of Australia, but suffered a loss. The Australians handed Cassidy a 5-7 7-6(2) 7-6(4) defeat to end his run in Mexico.
