Niland Knocked Out in Houston
Conor Niland was knocked out yesterday in the first round of the US Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas. He was defeated on a scoreline of 6-4 6-2 by Somdev Devvarman of India. Niland had been scheduled to play Mardy Fish, but the American withdrew due to injury and Devvarman served as a last minute replacement.
Niland is currently ranked 228 in the ATP World Tour, his highest ranking to date. He will now draw his attention to qualifying for the second Grand Slam of the year at Roland Garros in Paris this May.
