Julia Moriarty was knocked out in the second round of the women’s singles’ competition in Nanjing, China. Moriarty, seeded seventh in the tournament and ranked 695th in the women’s circuit, was defeated by Ya qi Deng of China 6-4 6-3 in the second round. On the doubles’ side, Moriarty reached the quarterfinals with Tegan Edwards of South Africa before suffering a loss to the Chinese pair of Wan-Ting Liu and Yi-Jing Zhao, who defeated them 6-1 6-0.
 
Moriarty remains in China, this time competing in the $10,000 Ningbo tournament. She enters the tournament as the fifth seed and is set to face off against Saisai Zheng of China in the opening round.
