Morrissey and Barry in the 21st Mitsubishi-Lancer International Juniors Championship

Fifth seeded John Morrissey suffered a loss to the American Dane Webb in the quarterfinals of the Philippines’ tournament. Webb, the 14th seed, defeated Morrissey 6-2 6-4. Morrissey advanced to the quarterfinals after a first round bye, second round win over Joey Swaysland (AUS) 3-6 7-6(4) 6-2, and a third round victory over Kalle Averfalk (SWE) 6-1 1-6 6-0.
 
In the doubles competition, both Morrissey and Sam Barry played in the quarterfinals, but only Barry was victorious. Third seeded Morrissey and the Russian Alexander Rumyantsev fell to Olin (SWE) and Wunner (GER), the eighth seeded pair, on a scoreline of 6-3 6-3.
 
Fourth seeded Barry and Ben McLachlan of New Zealand were victorious over the fifth seeded duo of Burke (JAM) and King (BAR), advancing to the semifinals on a scoreline of 6-2 6-2. The pair continued to succeed with a 6-4 6-4 defeat of Barrett Franks and Adam Lee of New Zealand. Barry’s success came to an end in the finals where he and McLachlan went up against second seeded Francis Casey Alcantara of the Philippines and Raymond Sarmiento of the United States. Barry/McLachlan were defeated 6-4 6-3.
