Sam Barry fails to advance in boys singles quarter finals in Tunisia
Sam Barry faced Jiri Vesely (CZE) in the quarterfinals of the boys singles yesterday resulting in a scoreline 1-5 0-15 before play had to be postponed due to stormy weather. They continued the match this morning but the final result was not in Barry’s favour and he was unfortunate to suffer defeat to Vesely. Full score will be available at the link below later today.
Sam Barry defeated Alban Meuffels (NED) on a scoreline 2-6 6-1 6-1 in the second round of the boys singles and had a 6-3 6-2 win over Ameur Ben Hassen (TUN) in the first round.
In the doubles, Barry/ Zsiga (HUN) were defeated 6-1 7-5 by Tunisian duo Chargui / Hamza in the first round.
Eighteen year old Barry reached the second round of the boys singles and doubles at the Australian Open Juniors recently and the final of the boys doubles at the grade 1 Loy Lang International in Traralgon, Australia.

Amy Bowtell played Russian, Aminat Kushkhova in the first round of the girls singles on Tuesday but suffered a 4-6 6-2 6-2 defeat. In the doubles she played with her partner from last week Agata Baranska (POL) where they faced a tough challenge against no. 1 seed pair Jabeur (TUN) / Seateun (FRA) in the first round. They were defeated 4-6 6-0 [10-5].
Bowtell and Baranska reached the final round of the girls doubles at the SFAX ITF Junior Tournament last week in Tunisia.
Sixteen-year-old Bowtell recently achieved a place in the second round of the girls singles event at the grade 1 22nd Czech International Junior Indoor Championships and was a finalist in the ladies singles at the Babalot National Indoors in December.
