James Cluskey/Michael Venus in finals of mens doubles in Israel
James Cluskey and Michael Venus (USA) have defeated Alexander Bury (BUL) / Pavel Katliarov (BUL) on a scoreline 6-7(3) 6-3 [15-13] in the finals of the mens doubles at the Isrotel Circuit W3 in Eilat, Israel this afternoon.
They faced Mao-Xin Gong (CHN) / Zhe Li (CHN) in the semi final yesterday afternoon but overcame the no. 2 seed duo on a scoreline 6-2 6-3.
Cluskey/Venus had a 6-3 6-2 win over Israelis Ben Zvi/ Steele in the quarterfinals and they defeated Russian duo Fufygin / Reshetnikov in the first round on a scoreline 4-6 6-3 [16-14].
Earlier this week, James Cluskey faced Matthew Illingworth (GB) in the first round of the mens singles qualifiers. He was unfortunate not to proceed in the mens singles and was defeated on a scoreline 6-7(4) 6-4 6-1.
James Cluskey currently has a ranking of 1222 and reached the semi final of the mens singles at the Babalot National Indoor Championships in December.
