Conor Niland results from semi finals of $50,000ATP Challenger Kazan Kremlin Cup in Russia

 
Conor Niland achieved a place in the semifinals of the mens singles at the $50,000 ATP Challenger Kazan Kremlin Cup in Russia on Friday afternoon. Niland faced no.1 seed Julian Reister (GER) in the semifinals and was unfortunate to suffer defeat on a scoreline 6-7(10) 6-4 6-4.
 
Reister faced no. 2 seed Michal Przysiezny (POL) in the mens singles finals and was defeated on a scoreline 7-6(5) 6-4.
 
In the quarterfinals, Niland defeated Konstantin Kravchuk (RUS) and defeated Sergei Bubka (UKR) in his second round match.
 
He also competed in the mensdoubles event with partner Gero Kretschmer (GER). They faced German duo Tobias Kamke /Julian Reister and were unfortunate not to proceed past the first round suffering a 6-4 4-6 10-2 defeat to the Germans.
 
This was Niland’s first tournament since the Australian Open where he achieved a place in the final round of the mens singles qualifiers. He will take part in the France F3 Futures in Bressuire this week.

 

Niland’s Davis Cup team mate, Louk Sorensen also took part in this tournament. He faced Evgeny Donskoy (RUS) in the first round and was unfortunate to suffer a 6-2 6-4 defeat to the Moscow native.

 

Sorensen advanced from the Australian Open mens singles qualifiers to the second round of the main draw. Last week, he received a wildcard into the mens singles main draw at the ATP Heilbronn Challenger in Germany.
