Conor Niland in Quarterfinals at F27 Futures 2009 Birmingham, USA
Conor Niland (ranked 349) has achieved a place in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles at the F27 Futures 2009 Birmingham, USA. Niland defeated Denis Kudla (USA) on a scoreline 4-6 6-3 6-3 in the second round of the main draw and had a 6-1 6-2 win over Tim Bradshaw (GBR) in the first round. Niland who has been seeded no.1 will now play Erling Tveit of Norway (ranked 764) this morning. Niland recently reached the final of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures.
Michael Hayes also competed in this tournament and reached the third round of the mens qualifiers but was defeated 7-6(5) 6-3 by Saad Benkirane (MAR). He achieved his place in the third round by defeating Justin Kirstein (RSA) 6-3 6-4 and Davis Mark Dawson (USA) 7-6(5) 6-3. Twenty two year old Hayes competed in both the singles (qualifers) and doubles at the Ireland F2 Futures in June of this year.
This tournament is the first-ever USTA Pro Circuit $10,000 Futures event to be held in Birmingham, USA. The finals will take place on Sunday 8th November 2009
