Victories Yesterday for all Irish Players at 10th Torneig ITF Andorra La Vella 2009

 
There were victories yesterday for the three Irish players are taking part in the 10th Torneig ITF Andorra La Vella 2009 tournament in Andorra.
 
Boys Singles
 
Sam Barry (no. 1 seed) defeated wildcard Damien Gelabert (AND) in the first round of the boys main draw yesterday. He will now play Alexandre Massa (ranked 739) of France in the second round. Barry reached the final stage of the men’s singles qualifying draw at the Great Britain F16 Futures last week.
 
Ciaran Fitzgerald (no. 7 seed) will now play Dimitri Garcia (FRA) in the second round of the boys singles. Fitzgerald is currently ranked 487 reached the final of the boys singles at the ITF Rushbrooke in July 2009.

Boys Doubles
 
Barry and Fitzgerald will now play America duo Michael Grant and Theodore Sebastian Marin in the quarter final of the boys doubles event after their 6-4 6-1 win over Enrique Bautista and Baena Carballes who are both from Spain.

Girls Singles and Doubles
 
Amy Bowtell defeated Lea Tholey (FGU) in the first round of the girl’s main draw. Tholey who is ranked 704 achieved her place in the main draw after successfully coming through the qualifying stage of the girl’s singles. Bowtell will play Francesca Palmigiano (ITA) who has a ranking of 631 in the second round of the girls singles.
 
Bowtell is currently seeded 238 and reached the semi finals of the girls singles at the HRT Autumn Cup 2009 in Denmark two weeks ago.
 
Bowtell has been seeded no. 2 in the girl’s singles event and is also competing in the doubles with Nicole Peterson (GBR) where they will play French partners Marie-Ambroisine and Laure Eline Faure.
