AEGON Pro-Series tournament in Glasgow: Thursday’s Results

 
Five Irish players travelled to Glasgow this week for the AEGON Pro-Series tournament. Sixteen year old Amy Bowtell and seventeen year old Sam Barry played in the singles qualifiers earlier in the week.
 
Also competing was Barry King who reached the second round of the singles and doubles with James McGee. James McGee and Conor Niland both qualified for the men’s singles quarterfinals.
 
Conor Niland played Daniel Evans (GBR) but had to retire due to injury after winning the first game 6-2. Evans will now play Claudio Grassi (ITA) in the semifinals. Niland reached the final of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week and was defeated 6-3 4-6 6-4 by Antony Depuis (FRA).
 
James McGee was defeated by Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) 6-2 6-3. Rodrigues will now play Mertens (BEL) in the semifinals. Twenty two year old McGee is ranked 542 and reached the second round of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week.
