AEGON Pro-Series tournament in Glasgow: McGee and Niland advance to singles quarterfinals

 
Five Irish players have travelled to Glasgow this week for the AEGON Pro-Series tournament. Sixteen year old Amy Bowtell and seventeen year old Sam Barry played in the singles qualifiers earlier in the week. Below are yesterday’s (Wednesday 21st Oct) results for James McGee, Conor Niland and Barry King in the men’s singles and doubles.
 
 Men’s Singles Main Draw
 
James McGee and Conor Niland have advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s singles event.
 
James McGee had a 6-4 6-0 win over Matteo Viola (ITA) yesterday and will play Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) this morning. Twenty two year old McGee is ranked 542 and reached the second round of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week.
 
Conor Niland who is seeded no. 8 defeated Daniel Cox (GBR) 5-7 6-0 6-2 and will now play no. 3 seed Daniel Evans (GBR) who had a 6-2 6-4 win yesterday over Ireland’s Barry King. Niland reached the final of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week and was defeated 6-3 4-6 6-4 by Antony Depuis (FRA).

Men’s Doubles Main Draw
James McGee and Barry King failed to beat British duo Chris Eaton and Dominic Inglot in the men’s doubles yesterday and lost on a scoreline 6-2 6-3.
 
McGee and King defeated Daniel Evans and Joshua Milton (GBR) in the first round 1-6 6-4 [10-5]. McGee and King recently reached the semi finals of the doubles event at the Italy F30 Futures 2009.
