AEGON Pro-Series tournament in Glasgow: Victories for all Irish Players on Tuesday
Five Irish players have traveled to Glasgow this week for the AEGON Pro-Series tournament. Sixteen year old Amy Bowtell and seventeen year old Sam Barry played in the singles qualifiers earlier in the week. Below are yesterday’s (Tuesday 20th Oct) results for James McGee, Conor Niland and Barry King in the men’s singles and doubles.
Men’s Singles Main Draw
All three Irish players who were in action yesterday in the men’s singles event have advanced to the second round of the main draw.
James McGee defeated Andrew Fitzpatrick (GBR) 7-6(3) 6-4 and will now play Matteo Viola (ITA) this morning. Twenty two year old McGee is ranked 542 and reached the second round of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week.
Conor Niland had a 6-1 6-2 win over Scott Griekspoor (NED) and will now play Daniel Cox of Great Britain. Niland who is seeded no. 8 reached the final of the men’s singles at the France F18 Futures 2009 in St. Dizier last week. Niland was defeated 6-3 4-6 6-4 by Antony Depuis (FRA).
Barry King also had a win yesterday. He defeated Luca Vanni (ITA ) on a scoreline 6-4 4-6 6-3 and will now play Daniel Evans (GBR) [3] in round two of the men’s singles.

Men’s Doubles Main Draw
James McGee and Barry King are also competing in the doubles event where they defeated Daniel Evans and Joshua Milton (GBR) in the first round on a scoreline 1-6 6-4 [10-5]. They will now play another British duo, Chris Eaton and Dominic Inglot in the second round. McGee and King recently reached the semifinals of the doubles event at the Italy F30 Futures 2009.
